DESCRIPTION:Do you know and understand the significance in diversity\, equity and inclusion? We will discuss various tips and important information on how to implement and promote diversity\, equity and inclusion in the community and at the workplace. When effectively implemented\, it will help to cultivate higher levels and standards of creativity\, engagement and innovation.\n\n\n\nRuben Henderson currently serves as the Associate Director\, Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He received his undergraduate degree in Marketing and Legal Studies from the B.I. Moody III College of Business and received his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He serves on numerous boards and committees on campus and in the community\, including the Black Faculty Staff Association (BFSA) serving as the Immediate Past President\, and the Christiana Smith African American Alumni Chapter serving as the Vice President of Special Events.\n\n\n\nRuben is a recent recipient of the Dean of Community Service Excellence in Service Award at UL Lafayette\, the Outstanding Mid-Level Professional of the Year Award from the Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administration and the 2019 Carreathers-Scott Innovative Advisor Award at the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity\, Incorporated. He also currently serves in LACUSPA as the Four-Year Institutional Representative and is the proud advisor of the Black Male Leadership Association (BMLA). He is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette Class XXIX (29) and has served on the Board of Directors for the705\, an organization for Young Leaders in Acadiana seeking to grow professionally and personally by participating in a variety of learning and leadership development opportunities. Ruben currently serves on the board of directors for Mile Perret Cancer Services (MPCS)\, a comprehensive resource center helping individuals fight\, survive and live with cancer. He was recently selected by the National Association of University Women (Lafayette Branch) for the Tribute to Excellence Award\, a recipient for the 2019 Southwest Champion of Service Award and a recipient for the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Faculty Member of the Year.\n\n\n\n\n\nZoom Luncheons How Will this Work?\n\nHow do I Zoom? - With ZOOM we will be able to have online meetings and events with video/audio from the comfort of your home or office. You can utilize ZOOM from your home computer\, iPad or smart phone. Those who have registered for the event will receive meeting log-in information by June 9th. If you are not familiar with ZOOM\, click here for a quick user guide. If you still have questions\, please email Maggie and she will guide you through.\n\n \n\nThe Format - The meeting will begin promptly at 11:45 with a guided networking icebreaker. At 12:00 noon\, the Chamber President will give a brief update and introduce our guest speaker. Then guest speaker will begin his/her presentation.\n\n \n\nWhat About Lunch? - Lunch will not be provided\, but we strongly encourage you to support our local member restaurants (find your fave here) and dine virtually together. \n\n\n\nWhat is the Cost? - $10 for members and $15 for non-members. As a reminder\, members at the Preferred level or higher have tickets included with their membership.\n\n \n\nWill there still be door prizes? - YES! There will be opportunities to win door prizes provided by our luncheon sponsor\, BOM\, and our swag sponsor\, Engage Federal Credit Union.\n\n\n\nNote - This is a paid online event.
