The Technician provides direct and indirect patient care in the office setting demonstrating clinical education and competence in direct patient care as per scope of practice. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff for the clinic. Prepares and compiles medical records for the Clinic as directed; Initiates directions from Physician and Nursing staff. Maintains regulatory agency requirements and follows clinic policies and procedures and standards. The technician performs EKG’s, applies Event and Holter Monitors. These procedures produce recordings of electromotive variations in the patient's heart muscle which provides data for diagnosis of heart ailments. The Technician prepares patients and assists physicians with Treadmill and Pharmacological Stress Tests including education, lead placement, and patient management. Communicates with physician and team members about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Required Education and Experience
- High school graduate.
- Successful EKG skills course completion or Medical Assistant.
- Current BLS certification.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to use EKG, Stress Testing and Holter monitors.
- Ability to obtain vital signs
