    Role and Responsibilities

    In this role, the Chief Financial Officer will lead the finance team supporting Southern Scripts' ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals by managing and driving business actions and financial key performance indicators. The CFO is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The CFO also oversees cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/collection and payroll and risk management.

    • Partner with the CEO and senior team to analyze and support full P&L responsibility.
    • Identify emerging product/market trend vulnerabilities and opportunities through analysis and insight generation; develop and implement action plans for business growth.
    • Manage development and monitor implementation of departmental action plans to seize competitive opportunities and/or respond to performance shortfalls/plan variances.
    • Develop SS and departmental financial plans and forecasting tools/processes.
    • Utilize financial analysis to recommend strategic and business initiatives.
    • Partner with other departments to assure pricing, product and risk alignment with Southern Scripts' financial performance targets.
    • Align resources with shared services to drive business unit focus. Provide project management support for critical action plans other initiatives that cut across Southern Scripts.
    • Monitor and evaluate risk and delegation arrangements; recommend appropriate financial protections.
    • Develop high performing financial department that performs a function and/or can assist in the financial and business issues support being provided to the business.
    • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
    • Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing cash balances and making investments.
    • Provides status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advises management of actions and potential risks.
    • Arranges for audits as required and appropriate.
    • Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
    • Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
    • Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
    • Abide by all obligations under HIPAA related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
    • If a HIPAA violation is discovered, whether individually or by another, you must report the violation to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources.
    • Attend, complete, and demonstrate competency in all required HIPAA Training offered by the company.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    The CFO/VP of Finance has supervisory responsibilities and direct reports.



    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM CT. We cover clients from West to East Coast, work times must be adjusted to cover meetings in all time zones. Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays pursuant with industry demands




    This position requires minimal travel.



    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • 7-10 years related financial management experience including strategic and business planning, accounting and financial analysis.
    • Extensive experience in healthcare (specifically in PBM or pharmacy), managed care insurance or financial services.
    • Experience supporting a P&L and developing innovative short- and long-term financial strategies for driving growth.
    • Ability to communicate a vision and instill associates with a sense of shared purpose.
    • Sensitivity to market issues
    • Strong financial, analytical and cost control skills.
    • Leadership and management skills necessary to work effectively within a system, influence results, motivate individuals and teams, and resolve problems in a diplomatic professional manner.
    • Excellent oral and written communication, persuasion, negotiation and presentation skills. The incumbent must be able to clearly articulate factual and advisory information to all levels of staff, executives, the boards of directors, and others, and garner related support.
    • Willingness to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Master's degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • 10 or more years of experience in managing an accounting function in a medium- or large-size company.
    • Healthcare services experience highly desired.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
