  • Recognizing the Best Natchitoches Has to Offer

For years the Chamber has recognized excellence in business and organizational operation with awards. While the types of awards and the recognition process have changed over the years--evolving into the recently rebranded Best of Natchitoches awards--the objective has remained the same. Our awards celebrate the achievements and leadership of our member businesses and professionals.

  • The Process

    Criteria

The criteria for nominees for the Best of Natchitoches awards are as follows:

Company management  •  Community service  •  Economic stability  •  Ethics and integrity  •  Growth of company  •  New jobs created for the community  •  Upward mobility for employees

    Nominations

Anyone can nominate a Chamber member business during the nomination period. Nominations will be open for two weeks. Nominees will then be contacted to submit a write-up, and will be recognized on social media. A cross panel of business professionals will then review the nominees' submissions, and select the finalists for each category based on specific award criteria. Finalists will then be contacted and announced to the membership and the community via a press release, email to the membership, and social media.

  • Voting

Following the announcement of the finalists, we will open up online voting. Voting is open to the public, and voters can cast their vote more than once. This is a time for finalists to showcase their nomination and solicit votes.

  • Announcing the Winners

Winners will receive a commemorative trophy to display at their place of business, and a Best of Natchitoches award-specific seal to proudly display on their company website and promotional material. We are returning to an in-person celebration this year, which will take place on Wednesday, May 18th, at the Natchitoches Events Center, from 11 AM - 1 PM. At the Awards Luncheon we will recognize the finalists in each category and announce the winners. We will also recognize this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, the NYP 4 Under 40 class, the Teachers of the Year, the Principals of the Year, and the Students of the Year. You can register for the event here

    Rules & Regulations

Business awards are given on an annual basis and are based on the previous calendar year's achievements. Individual awards will consider the cumulative impact of a professional.

A business must be a member in good standing of the Chamber to qualify for nominations. A business may be nominated for multiple awards; a business cannot be a finalist in more than one category. Past winners are ineligible for nomination in their previously awarded category for three years (e.g. if AB Bakery won Best Small Business 2020, they are ineligible for a Best Small Business award through 2023; however, AB Bakery can qualify for other categories such as Best in Food and Beverage). On the fourth year past winners may apply again for the award.

Affiliate offices are eligible for nomination in any category that their parent organization has not already won in the past three years. Multiple affiliate nominees can be submitted, but an organization cannot have multiple affiliates as finalists.

A Lifetime Achievement Award winner is a successful leader in a company, industry and in our community. Further, the Lifetime Award allows us to recognize a true pillar who will teach future generations by example. This award recognizes contributions over the entirety of a career, rather than, or in addition to, a single contribution.
