    Qualifications

    Doctorate in hospitality management and tourism (HMT) or closely related field preferred. ABD will be considered with a required graduation date determined before a hire is made. Documented higher education teaching experience and documented research record are preferred. Preference given to applicants with demonstrated effective higher education teaching experience in hospitality management and tourism. Applicants should possess extensive knowledge in hospitality management and tourism, higher education teaching using a variety of technologies, and a documented record of higher education teaching performance. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Job Concepts

    Teach 6 to 9 credit/contact hours of hospitality management and tourism courses; teach all courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence. Collaborate and support the School Director in establishing and maintaining positive workplace cultures and activities. Assisting in submitting proposals to the curriculum review committee; assist in program development. Collaborate in the assessment cycle and process as directed. Be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and professional growth and scholarship. Serve as primary contact for academic advising within the HMT program and assign advisees to appropriate HMT faculty. Work with other HMT faculty to promote excellence in advising. Provide oversight for course rotations in the HMT. Participate in faculty meetings and serve on appropriate program and College committees. Maintain appropriate expertise and competences through continued professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities including grant writing, research, scholarly publications, and presentations. Represent the University in a professional manner in all activities and functions as determined by the President, Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean. or Department Chair/School Director (e.g., commencement, faculty institute, registration, freshman connection, recruitment events, and any called meetings). Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy. Acknowledge and agree to comply with those mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana which regulate the activity and employment of state employees including but not limited to the "Code of Government Ethics," LA R.S. 42: 1101 et seq", and "Dual Office Holding and Dual Employment LA R.S. 42:61 et seq". Maintain office hours. Assist in overseeing HMT international study tour and student exchange programs. Assist in overseeing budget, lab fees, and purchasing. Additional duties and responsibilities can be assigned as needed by the Director.
