    Northwestern State University is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach. Northwestern State is an NCAA Division I institution, a member of the Southland Conference and sponsors 14 varsity sports. This is a full time, 12-month position that reports to the Head Men's Basketball Coach. THIS IS AN INTERNAL SEARCH ONLY.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree is preferred. Experience coaching men's collegiate basketball, administrative duties, hiring duties, recruiting, and all other duties as required by an associate head men's basketball coach (preferably Division I). Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft products and network internet required. Must possess outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. A minimum of I year of collegiate and/or professional athletics experience is required, 3 or more years is preferred.

    Job Concepts

    Perform duties in all pre-season, in-season and off-season practice sessions as assigned by head coach. Perform duties during intercollegiate competition as assigned by head coach. Perform administrative duties as assigned by head coach including, but not limited to: conducting study halls, checking class attendance of men's basketball student-athletes, team travel plans, assisting with equipment, room checks, etc. Attend NCAA compliance educational sessions as required by the university compliance coordinator. Stay abreast of all NCAA rules and regulations. Assist in conducting camps and fundraisers as assigned by the head coach. Attend alumni functions and fund raisers as schedule permits. Participate in community activities that afford you the opportunity to promote NSU basketball, NSU Athletics, and Northwestern State University. Identify and cultivate potential donors to the athletic department and university. Maintaining facilities as assigned by the head coach. Perform recruiting duties as assigned by the head coach. Perform duties of facilitating hiring of all staff openings. Perform the duty of completing all paperwork for volunteer coaches and graduate assistants. Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of these positions. Assist NSU admissions in identifying and recruiting students who are outstanding academically or in extracurricular activities other than athletics.
